Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 1 – On 1st October 2021, Embassy of the Republic of Korea held the 2021 National Foundation day Commemorative Ceremony at the Embassy.

As a prevention measure against COVID19, this year’s ceremony was held with only a limited number of guests, with Phoeurng Sackona, minister of culture and fine arts as the guest of honor, as well as Cambodia Korean Wave Supporters and members of the press.
 
Ambassador Park Heung-Kyeong said in his speech that “In 24 years after the re-establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Cambodia, the two countries have seen a rapid strengthening of bilateral relations”.
 
Minister Phoeurng Sackona said in her remarks, that “I have strong confidence that, with the continued joint effort, our strong bond of friendship and excellent cooperation will be further advanced for mutual interests and benefit of our two peoples and for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.”
 
On the occasion of the ceremony, there was an unveiling of the ‘Cambodia Peace Map’, an artwork by Korean Artist ‘Han Han-guk’. The ‘Cambodia Peace Map’ was specially made in time for the National Day Ceremony to wish for continuing peace in Cambodia and a lasting friendship between Cambodia and Korea.
 
11,500 Han-geul characters are engraved in the Cambodia Peace Map. The text includes description about Cambodia’s culture and history, as well as a poem entitled 'Peace in Cambodia', written by poet ‘Yoon So-cheon’. H.E Minister Phoeurng Sackona said in her speech that “I appreciate the special and creative art which wishes the two countries’ lasting friendship”.
As the last order of the ceremony, a special K-Pop performance was given by the winners of the K-Pop World Festival Cambodia Preliminary year 2019 and 2021, OMG and DINEST.
 
This year’s National Foundation day Commemorative Ceremony provided an excellent opportunity to confirm the friendship between our two countries and further strengthen it.
