Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 30 – Cambodian Phnom Penh Municipal Court dropped arrest warrants against former youth president of CNRP in South Korea Yim Sinorn and his accomplices since November 2019, the court’s spokesperson told Fresh News on Thursday.

On 29 September 2021, Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen received a request letter from ex-CNRP members to intervene to drop charges and he assigned minister of justice Koeut Rith to seek justice for the 10 ex-CNRP members.

Sinorn wrote in his letter that the premier has recently intervened to drop charge against political analyst and professor Seng Sary, which was a wise move supported by the national and international public.

Yim Sinorn said he and other former members used to lead a nonviolent demonstration. However, they did not support the “9 November repatriation movement” launched by Sam Rainsy.

Sinorn said Rainsy’s movement incited for hatred against the king and called on armed forces to launch coup against the legitimate government.

“For the above reasons, we were attacked by extremists of the court-dissolved CNRP. We were accused of joining the movement, which led Cambodian authority to issue arrest warrants against us,” Sinorn wrote.
