Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 29 – Culture is one of the key assets to promote mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual benefits; therefore, cultural diplomacy can play a crucial role to reach peaceful reunification of the two Koreas.

Deputy director general of the Asian Cultural Council Lim Bunhok, representing Khuon Sudary, the 2nd vice president of Cambodia’s National Assembly and chairwoman of the Asian Cultural Council, delivered remarks at the International Leadership Conference entitled "Toward Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula: Best Practices in Track II Diplomacy" via videoconference on Thursday.

Bunhok said culture should be a force of unity, not division. Numerous experiences demonstrate how culture can provide a crucial entry point for international cooperation to unite people across borders in the protection of shared cultural heritage or cultural exchange, for example, through the implementation of cultural exchanges programs, art performances, art exhibitions, showcasing of shared cultural values.
