Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 29 – Suos Yara, Member of Parliament and Vice-Chairman of the Commission of Foreign Affairs, International Relation, Information and Media of the National Assembly of Cambodia, delivered remarks at the International Leadership Conference under the theme “Toward Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula: Creating the Foundation for a Unified World”, held via video conference on Thursday.

“Peace is not only the absence of war or armed conflicts but also the absence of widespread social injustice, discrimination, inequality, and poverty. Therefore, we need to constantly build the foundations of peace. To fulfill people's aspirations for peace, we need a peace-oriented political leadership, political pluralism, and a people-centric governance system.”

Yara also reiterated a peace-making process in order to reach a peaceful reunification of the two Koreas.

International Leadership Conference 2021 (ILC2021) was organized to allow each region of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) to convene a virtual ILC on the topic of the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, resulting in a call to action through a proposal to establish expert working groups and an Alliance for a Unified Korea.
