Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 4 – Speaking at the press conference at Calmette Hospital on Thursday morning, Cambodian Prime Minister announced to run for “premier” in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

He confirmed that there is no transfer of premiership to anyone.

“Now I stop speaking of running as premier for 10 or 20 years, I will be prime minister until I want to stop,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Responding to critics saying "Cambodia cannot even help herself, why bother helping other countries?” the premier said that "Cambodia is small country with big heart.”

"When you become prime minister, you can decide on your own. Now it is my turn. As a premier, I have the right to provide free treatment to foreigners who test positive of COVID19,” he continued.

The premier taunted the oppositions that they are not destined to be prime minister, saying “the opposition will keep waiting for 31 February every year.”

Cambodia will hold Commune/Sangkat Council Election on 5 June 2022, and hold the general elections on in July 2023.
