Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 7 – Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian said on Sunday that Cambodia has become one of the first countries to receive COVID19 vaccine from the Chinese government.

"I am very pleased to attend the handover ceremony of COVID19 vaccines, a gift from the Chinese government to the Royal Government of Cambodia," said Wang Wentian.

“I would like to highlight that Cambodia is one of the first countries to receive COVID19 vaccine from China,” he added.

The Chinese ambassador said that since the outbreak COVID19, the two governments have helped each other overcome difficulties and taken real actions in accordance with the Khmer proverb, which says "Love each other in times of need, know good friends in times of trouble.”
Ambassador Wang hoped that the vaccines will actively contribute to preventing Cambodia from COVID19.

“ The fact that China provides vaccines to Cambodia is a testament of Chinese President Xi’s announcement that COVID19 is a global commodity,” the ambassador underlined.

Ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to help Cambodia fully overcome the virus on behalf of the ironclad friend.

Premier Hun Sen said the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia are very grateful to the Government and the people of China for providing 600,000 doses COVID19 vaccines in the first phase.

“Although Cambodia has successfully combatted COVID19 community transmission, it is a prerequisite for Cambodia to overcome the pandemic,” said the premier.
