Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 29 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen clarified that Cambodia’s first oil extraction site is located in Cambodia’s territory and that it does not lap over Thai territory.

“Cambodia's oil extraction in Block A has nothing to do with Thailand. The extraction site sits at 300 kilometers away from Thailand, while only 100 kilometers from Cambodia’s Sihanoukville. As for the overlapping areas, the two sides have reached agreement,” the premier addressed Tuesday in a special message lived from his house.

Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that the revenues generated from selling oil will be used in education and health sectors.

Cambodia's first oil drop is produced from the A-0ID well of Platform A in the Gulf of Cambodia on 29 December 2020 by Singapore’s oil and gas exploration company KrisEnergy. Today also marks the 22nd anniversary of Prime Minister Hun Sen’s win-win policy, a compass that completely ended the civil war nationwide that brings absolute peace and stability to the Kingdom until these days.
