Kandal (FN), Dec. 29 – In a special message lived from his house this morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen reiterated that Cambodia will only purchase COVID19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

"Cambodia will not order any vaccines until WHO approves. Cambodia will not use her own people to test the vaccines from any countries," said the premier.

Notably, out of the 10 ASEAN countries, two countries have so far purchased the COVID19 vaccines and distributed to their people. Singapore bought the vaccines from the United Kingdom and Indonesia bought from China.

Cambodian government announced on 7 December 2020 to buy one million doses of COVID19 vaccines for phase I vaccination project to provide to citizens with free of charge.

The government plans to purchase 26 million doses of COVID19 vaccine to give to 80 percent of Cambodian, an equivalent to 13 million people.

To date, Cambodia has confirmed 364 cases of COVID19 (41 community cases), 360 recoveries and no death.
