Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 8 – Kem Sokha, leader of the court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), on Tuesday, voiced his support on the Royal Government of Cambodia's plan to purchase COVID19 vaccines.

Cambodian government, on Monday evening, announced to buy 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccines to provide to Cambodian citizens with free of charge.

"I support the measures taken by the Royal Government of Cambodia to curb COVID19 pandemic, especially the recent announcement to buy 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccines to provide to Cambodian citizens with free of charge,” Kem Sokha wrote on his Facebook page.

He also expressed his appreciations to the donors who have generously contributed to the Royal Government to purchase the vaccines.

As of 4 p.m today, the government has received approximately USD 30 million from philanthropists nationwide.

Kem Sokha also called on the international community and developed countries to provide COVID19 vaccines to Cambodia on humanitarian grounds.

Cambodia reported the first ever community COVID19 case on 28 November 2020. As of 8 December, 34 people were tested positive among the over 10,000 people involved.

To date, Cambodia has confirmed 350 cases of COVID19 with 307 recoveries and no death.
