Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 10 – Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, on Friday, hosted a dinner reception at Rosewood Phnom Penh, in honour of MTCP Alumni members who had attended MTCP courses in Malaysia between 2015 and 2019.
The dinner, under the umbrella of the Embassy’s MTCP Alumni Programme, is the third reception hosted by the Embassy this year. The first two took place in June with Senior Minister Ly Thuch and Senior Minister Okhna Dr. Othsman Hassan as the guests of honour.
The dinner aims to foster a long-lasting and strong bond of friendship with all who have attended the previous editions of MTCP courses; and strengthen networking between the Embassy officials, Malaysian diaspora and former Cambodian MTCP participants.
Addressing at the event, the Ambassador Eldeen said, “the strong ties between Malaysia and Cambodia are underpinned by mutual interests and friendly people-to-people relations.”
MTCP has fostered greater cooperation between the governmental agencies of the two countries and encouraged deeper collaboration between the private sectors of both countries, he said.
The Ambassador hopes to see more future participation from Cambodian officials in the MTCP, as it would not only be beneficial to bilateral relations, but also assist career development of the participants.
The MTCP reflects Malaysia’s commitment to South-South Cooperation, particularly technical cooperation among developing countries such as Cambodia. The programme is formulated based on Malaysia’s principle that the development of a country depends on the quality of its human resources. In addition, Malaysia sees MTCP as integral towards strengthening mutually beneficial bilateral relations.
Annually, more than 50 short-term specialized courses in various areas such as agriculture, economy, finance and trade, education, environment, industrial technical training, diplomacy, public management and administration, professional services, social development and science, technology and ICT are offered by leading Malaysian training institutions, many of which are centers of excellence for training.
Cambodia became an MTCP recipient country in 1991 and to date, more than 1,600 officials from the Kingdom have participated in MTCP courses.
