Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 10 – Cambodia garment and footwear workers will receive the minimum wage of USD 192 next year after the deal reached between the Royal Government of Cambodia, unions and employers.

The deal was reached following the eight-day meeting, held from 3-10 September 2020 at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.

“All parties agreed on USD 190. Cambodian Prime Minister offers an additional USD 2, which added up to USD 192,” according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Thursday.

The 2020 minimum wage is USD 190 a month, up from the USD 182 in 2019.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has set a policy to increase the minimum wage of garment workers every year. The minimum wage of workers has increased from USD 40 per month in 1997 to USD 192 in 2021.
