Phnom Penh (FN), May 28 – Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised the Royal Government of Cambodia for successful prevention of the spread of Covid-19 and expressed support on a wise political leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, according to his letter, dated 11 May 2020, addressed to Premier Hun Sen.

“I am delighted to learn that your Government has taken acute actions to operationalize the recently launched WHO'S Covid-19 Global Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan,” Tedros Adhanom wrote in the letter.

He continued: “I seize this opportunity to commend the efforts of your Government to contain the pandemic. A special appreciation also goes to the public health workers on the frontline of this fight against COVID-19. Once again, I wish to indulge your continuing political leadership, your personal engagement and role.”

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Hun Sen on 10 April 2020 expressed his support for and commitment to the WHO's call to join global efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
