Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 30 – Cambodia’s National Assembly has passed an absolute vote of confidence to appoint five new ministers and four senior ministers for the Royal Government’s cabinet as nominated by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The plenary session, held Monday morning, was chaired by President of the National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin and 121 parliamentarians.

Cham Prasidh retains his post as senior minister and becomes the Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation – formerly known as Industry and Handicrafts.

Keut Rith, the Justice Ministry’s secretary of state, becomes new minister as Former Minister Ang Vong Vathana is promoted to senior minister in charge of special mission.

Chea Vandeth, chairman of the National Assembly’s Commission on Planning, Investment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment and Water Resources replaced Tram Iv Tek as new Minister of Posts and Telecommunications. Former Minister Iv Tek is promoted to senior minister in charge of special mission.

Chhit Sokhon, secretary of state for the Council of Ministers, is promoted to Minister of Cults and Religion, replaced Him Chhem who is promoted as senior minister in charge of special mission.

Prum Sokha, Civil Service’s secretary of state, is promoted to Minister of Civil Service, replaced Pich Bunthin who is promoted as senior minister in charge of special mission.

The 6th mandate cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Hun Sen, was formed on 6 September 2018 after the CPP swept all seats in the National Assembly in the 6th mandate elections. Cambodia’s Government Cabinet currently has a total of 49 members – one prime minister, 10 deputy prime ministers, 19 senior ministers and 29 ministers.
