Phnom Penh (FN), Feb 17 – The 83-year old woman who was tested positive in Malaysia was not among the 20 tested in Cambodia, Health Ministry’s Spokesperson Or Vandine told Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha on Monday.

The Ministry of Health, on 17 February 2020, issued a statement to confirm that it has examined the health of each passenger before they disembarked.

“The ministry continued to monitor the coronavirus case in Cambodia after the Malaysian Government found a positive case of the passenger of Westerdam cruise,” according to the press release.

The Malaysian Government said that an American woman who flew to Malaysia on Friday after disembarking from the Westerdam ship in Cambodia tested positive with Covid-19.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen posted on his Facebook on Monday saying that “some 500 multinational tourists, after having had medical tests, found no positive signs of Covid-19 and are currently given temporary accommodation at Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh. Clearly, if their countries reject them, Cambodia will continue to take care of them.”
