Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 22 – Government Lawyer Ky Tech said on Wednesday that the judging council was biased toward the defendant’s lawyer team in Kem Sokha’s treason trial.

“This morning, the judging council seems biased against us. When we raised our hand, the council refused to grant us the rights. What we asked for is that both sides shall have equal rights," said Ky Tech.

"There are many restrictions on our team [plaintiff] today, but we are not mad; we follow the orders of the judging council. Sometimes, thea defendant’s lawyers speak without authorisations from the council. This is not in accordance with the laws," he added.

Kem Sokha has been accused of conspiring with foreigners to topple the legitimate Royal Government of Cambodia. If found guilty, he faces up to 30 years imprisonment.

This morning was the fourth session of Sokha’s trial, observed by a representative of organisation, association, local and international media.

The hearing is held in both the morning and afternoon of 22-23 January 2020.
