Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 5 – Cambodian Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Chea Sophara said that total investment on the kingdom’s construction in 2019 has reached approximately USD 9.3 billion, an increase of 78 percent compared to 2018.

His statement was made at the 8th Annual Meeting of Cambodia Constructors Association and the opening ceremony of Construction Fair 2019, held from 5-7 December 2019 at Diamond Island, Phnom Penh.

Minister Chea Sophara has urged all investors and business owners in the construction industry to abide construction laws and regulations in order to ensure the safety and quality of construction in Cambodia.

Minister Chea Sophara said that all construction projects must conduct a study of construction plans, water system, electrical and mechanical design, as well as proper geological studies.

It is worth noting that construction is one among the four major sectors contributing to Cambodian economic growth. The sector employs an average of 200,000 workers or ever higher per day nationwide, while Phnom Penh alone needs at least 90,000 workers per day.
