Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 18 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the Indonesian Government for helping to prevent 9/11 coup plan of Sam Rainsy and entourages.

The gratitude was conveyed during a meeting on Monday evening with Jusuf Kalla, former vice president of Indonesia and honorary co-chair of the newly-launched Asian Cultural Council (ACC) .

During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the Indonesia for providing excellent cooperation in the spirit of ASEAN to prevent outlawed rebels; in particular, Sam Rainsy and Mu Sochua who wished to use Indonesia's territory to overthrow the Royal Government of Cambodia, according to Sri Thamrong, minister attached to Prime Minister.

It is worth noting that Sam Rainsy and his entourages have continuously stated and taken non-stop actions in various means and forms to mobilize supporters both inside and outside the country to join him in toppling the Royal Government on 9 November and arresting prime minister. However, he failed with shame of defeat.

Prime Minister Hun Sen also expressed his delight at the long-standing relations between the two countries, and thanked Indonesia for providing trainings to Cambodian officials and armed forces.

He stated that Indonesia's contributions to the Asia Pacific Summit held in Cambodia this November 2019 become a vision for the whole ASEAN.

Jusuf Kalla expressed his delight at the growing ties between the two countries and mentioned that the Asia-Pacific Summit in Cambodia was crucial with the achievement of showing the world a united front in solving some of the challenges.

Nearly 2,000 people, including 800 delegates from 48 countries, will today attend the Asia-Pacific Summit 2019 in Phnom Penh held from 18-21 November, where they will learn about how the Kingdom was able to end decades of civil war, said Ek Tha, vice-chairman of the Government Spokespersons Unit, yesterday in the press conference.

Ek Nath Dhakal, UPF Asia-Pacific chairman, said at the conference that Cambodia is “a model for other countries” because of its history in achieving peace.

The summit is co-hosted by the Kingdom in conjunction with the Universal Peace Federation, while the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace and the Asian Cultural Council aided with coordination. The summit will last until Thursday.
