Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 22 – His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni issued a royal decree on Thursday to establish the Phnom Penh Court of Appeal and three other Appeals Court surrounding zones of Tbong Khmum, Battambang, and Sihanoukville.

Som Procheameanith, general secretary of Supreme Council of Magistracy, said that the upcoming four appeal courts will start receiving cases from 1 April 2020 onwards.

According to the Royal Decree, the Phnom Penh Court of Appeal must appeal the decisions referred by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court (PPMC), Supreme Court, and court of Kandal province.

The Tbong Khmum Court of Appeal must appeal decisions referred by the court and the prosecutor of Tbong Khmum, Kampong Thom, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Prey Veng, and Svay Rieng.

The Battambang Court of Appeal and the prosecutor will be responsible for Battambang, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Pailin, Bnateay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, and Siem Reap.

The Sihanoukville Court of Appeal will be responsible for Sihanoukville, Takeo, Kampot, Kampong Speu, and Koh Kong.
