Beijing (FN), Aug. 20 - The Information Office of Beijing Municipality organized an event called “China Now: Silk Road Rediscovery Tour of Beijing, Upon the 70th Anniversary of the PRC," to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.

This event has attracted foreign experts from think tanks, media organizations, and well-known writers from 13 countries including Cambodia, Canada, Indonesia, Iran, Germany, Kenya, South Korea, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Thailand, and Turkey.

Addressing at the official opening, Xu Hejian, director of the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, stated that the event offers a chance for different civilizations to strengthen dialogues and exchanges.

“I hope that by attending the tour in Beijing, foreign visitors will find a new Beijing, a city that is full of innovation and high-quality and green development,” Xu said, adding that: “Beijing is an open city with a world-class business environment, and a city that values cultural protection and development.”

“This year is the fourth year to hold the "Silk Road Rediscovery Tour of Beijing". Previously, each activity conveyed changing history and humanistic spirit of Beijing and the green and technological future, demonstrating an open, friendly, prosperous, and confident Beijing,” according to the director.

Xu quoted President Xi Jinping that China determines the strategic position of Beijing as the capital city of "four centers", namely, political center, cultural center, international exchange center and scientific and technological innovation center.
