Phnom Penh (FN), June 24 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen participated at the 34th ASEAN Summit, which was held under the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability” in Bangkok, Thailand on 22 and 23 June 2019, according to foreign affairs’ press release dated Monday.

“At the Summit, the ASEAN Leaders emphasized the importance of advancing partnership for sustainability to achieve a people-centred, people-oriented and forward-looking ASEAN Community that leaves no one behind. In the rapidly changing regional and global environment as well as in the fast growing of digital innovative technology, they agreed to enhance cybersecurity cooperation and building a safe, secure and resilient cyberspace to support the digital economy of the ASEAN region,” according to the press release.

“Addressing the Summit, Prime Minister Hun Sen stressed specifically on: 1) the need to safeguarding and strengthening the ASEAN Centrality and Unity; 2) ways forward in building the ASEAN Community; 3) the need of strong political support to finalize the RCEP’s negotiation by 2019; 4) the need of further enhancing cooperation to realise regional integration efforts through effective implementation of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration Work Plan III; 5) the importance of the implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025; 6) the Work of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC); and 7) the work of the ASEAN Smart Cities Network,” it added.
