Phnom Penh (FN), June 12 – Singaporean Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan reiterated that Cambodia and Singapore shall cooperate bilaterally and under the ASEAN framework to maintain regional peace and stability.

The statement was made on Tuesday receiving a courtesy call from the commander of Royal Cambodian Army Lt. Gen. Hun Manet at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Singapore and the kingdom are old friends. Our relations provide mutual benefits and that we shall cooperate in the bilateral and ASEAN framework to maintain regional peace and stability,” Dr Vivian Balakrishnan underlined.

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan also congratulated Lt. Gen. Hun Manet for his appointment as deputy commander in chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and the commander of Royal Cambodian Army.

Lt. Gen. Hun Manet supported Dr Vivian Balakrishnan’s statement, which highlights the importance of Cambodia-Singapore relations in maintaining regional peace and stability.

“ASEAN shall remain unified for the sustainability of regional development and prosperity,” Lt. Gen. Hun Manet stated.

He added that his visit to Singapore will further strengthen the relations of both countries.
