Phnom Penh (FN), May 24 – Wang Yajun, Assistant Minister of International Department of Communist Party of China, paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Friday at the Peace Palace Phnom Penh during his visit to Cambodia.

Wang claimed that his visit to Cambodia aims to study investment opportunities to ensure investment sustainability in the coastal province Sihanoukville, according to Premier’s personal secretary Eang Sophalleth.

Wang reiterated the Chinese top leaders’ statement that the deeper alignment of Belt and Road Initiative and the Rectangular Strategy avail opportunities for Cambodia-China, the ironclad friends, to build a community of shared future that is mutually beneficial and interdependent for the benefits of our two peoples.

Wang pledged that China will continue to boost investment to Cambodia and open wide markets for Cambodian products.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen fully agreed with Wang's statement on the potential economic opportunities that are good for both, thanks to comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries.

It is worth noting that Cambodia and China signed “Action Plan 2019-2023 on Building China-Cambodia Community of Shared Future” in Beijing during Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s mission to Second Belt and Road Forum from 25 to 29 April 2019.

Both countries pledged to implement the action plan for building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future to benefit the two peoples, and set an example for countries to respect each other's cultural diversity and promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian considered the “Action Plan” a roadmap to further develop Cambodia-China relations, and the element to promote confidence in cooperation with neighboring countries to build community of common humanity.
