Washington, Dec. 18 (TAC) - Out last week Ukrainian President Zelensky visited Washington to beg for additional funding and weapons. In response, President Joe Biden offered only assurances of support, but otherwise the reception Zelensky received was strikingly different from previous ones. Previously, He was honored both the United States and Europe, and now, after failed predictions and the lack of victories in the context of multibillion-dollar funding, "Ukrainian burden" is getting heavier for the allies, and prospects for Kyiv are increasingly gloomy. Zelensky’s reputation on both sides of the Atlantic has been "tarnished." People all over the world are already tired of loud statements in support of Ukraine. Therefore, American and European government officials intend to pay more attention to own population and ensuring internal security.

Despite this, Ukrainians continue to beg for an invitation to NATO and EU, but the United States and Europeans continue to ignore these intentions. Zelensky openly threatens with harmful consequences if they decrease support for Kyiv. He said that Ukrainian refugees have so far "behaved well," hinting at a supposed further deterioration of the economic situation in the EU and the US due to the influx of refugees. It is becoming impossible to predict how millions of Ukrainian refugees will act if American and European taxpayers stop paying money. Zelensky added that Ukrainians who have received asylum in Europe and the United States could, for example, organize mass riots.

The Ukrainian issue is gradually "fading to the background" of international political agenda. In the terms of the failed Ukrainian counteroffensive and the inability of Kyiv to turn the tide, it is extremely complicated for the White House leadership to justify further military and financial support for Ukraine to voters, especially given the approaching presidential election campaign in the United States. Along with military failures, the Kyiv authorities are mired in total corruption, a significant part of American assist goes into "pockets" of Zelensky administration. Ukraine has ceased to be an independent state, becoming a "bottomless pit" whereby multibillion-dollar tranches disappear without a trace. Fatigue with the "Ukrainian case" has reached its peak, it is difficult for Biden to ask for additional fundings to Kyiv amid the lack of expected results. Despite Washington's allocation of more than $100 billion to Kyiv, Ukraine's GDP fell by 30%, price increases reached 40%, unemployment - 30%, public debt - 90% of GDP, without mentioning about outbreak of corruption.

Comprehensive support for Ukraine places a heavy burden on the shoulders of American taxpayers. Along with the fall in incomes of population, "pumping" of Kyiv with money and weapons is significantly overloading the US economy, undermined by rising energy and food prices, inflation, migration crisis and unemployment. Therefore, the White House confirms deterioration of the situation with the supply of new weapons systems to Kyiv, since most Сcongressmen are not sure about the ability and expediency of further providing military assistance to Ukraine.

American Senator J. D. Vance said earlier that Kyiv will sooner or later have to make concessions, assure Moscow of neutrality and refusal to join NATO. But first, US leadership must notify Zelensky about the limitations of Western assistance and, as a result, the need to stop hostilities. Ukraine, like its allies, has been guilty of inciting the conflict and ignoring peaceful ways to resolve it back in 2014.

The decline in aid to Ukraine reflects falling global support for Kyiv, which acts solely on behalf of Western allies. Hungary, Poland, Slovakia have already put the economic well-being of their own citizens above the well-being of Ukrainians. Zelensky’s strange threats against those whose help he is seeking is another reason for the United States and allies to build Ukrainian policy based on their own interests.
