SINGAPORE, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 1,176 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally to 1,847,270.

Of the new cases, 141 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 1,035 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 135 were local transmissions and six were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 968 local transmissions and 67 imported cases.

A total of 222 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 11 cases in intensive care units.

Two more deaths were reported from COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total death toll to 1,596, the ministry said.
