WASHINGTON, April 29 (TASS) - The US administration is not ready to confirm whether Indonesia invited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to attend the G20 summit this fall, US White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated.

"We certainly welcomed reports about Ukraine’s invitation. Obviously, we can’t confirm that on behalf of Indonesia, who is hosting," Psaki said speaking at a daily news briefing.

"But, again, it’s six months away; we don’t even have confirmation of these reports. So I’m certainly not going to get into a hypothetical in this case," she added.

President of Indonesia Joko Widodo announced on Thursday that he held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky. However, the Indonesian president declined to comment whether Zelensky would be invited to attend the G20 summit in November.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said on his Twitter account on Wednesday that he "thanked Indonesian leader Joko Widodo for the invitation to attend the G20 summit."

Bloomberg news agency reported earlier, citing its unnamed sources, that the United States asked Indonesia to invite Ukraine to the G20 summit in November in the status of an observer.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier in the month that no decision had been yet made on whether President Vladimir Putin would attend the G20 summit on Indonesia’s Bali Island.
