MOSCOW, April 18 (TASS) - A significant portion of citizens of Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and Ukraine, who arrived in Russia in an emergency, have been accommodated in eight regions of Russia, Russian Ministry of the Interior press office told TASS.

"A significant number of citizens [of DPR, LPR and Ukraine] have been accommodated in eight regions of the Russian Federation [Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Saratov and Ulyanovsk Regions," the press office representative said.

The Ministry underscored that law enforcement agencies prioritize issuing papers for this category of citizens who seek to legalize their status in Russia.

Earlier, the Ministry said that citizens of the Donbass republics and Ukraine will not be held responsible for violation of regime of staying in Russia. In addition, they are allowed to apply for residence permit based on expired papers.

Overall, a total of 845,000 refugees arrived in Russian from DPR, LPR and Ukraine. Over 32,000 displaced people, including almost 12,000 children, have been accommodated in temporary accommodation facilities, while they rest stay at their relatives, friends or have found accommodation on their own.
