MOSCOW, March 22 (TASS) - The situation around Ukraine and the course of the Russian-Ukrainian talks were the focus of a telephone conversation between Russian and French Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on the initiative of the French side. The presidents continued to exchange views on the situation around Ukraine, including on the ongoing talks between the Russian and Ukrainian representatives," it said.

The two presidents spoke over the phone last Friday. The conversation focused on the talks between Moscow and Kiev. Putin informed Macron about Russia’s principled approaches to possible agreements.

Macron visited Moscow on February 7 to hold talks with the Russian president. On the following day, the French leader visited Kiev. Following the Moscow talks, Putin and Macron have been maintaining regular telephone contacts.
