UNITED NATIONS, Feb 27 (CGTN) - UN Security Council on Sunday greenlighted an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly requested by Ukraine which will be held on Monday.

A total of 11 countries voted yes and three countries – China, India and UAE abstained in the vote while Russia voted against the proposal.

China, in an explanation of its vote, said actions taken by the UN should help cool the situation and facilitate diplomatic solutions, and restrain from aggravating tensions.
