MANILA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte continues to see high performance and trust ratings three years into his six-year presidential term, according to an independent poll released on Wednesday.

The survey by Pulse Asia, a public opinion polling body in the Philippines, conducted from June 24 to June 30, showed 85 percent of the 1,200 Filipinos aged 18 and above surveyed nationwide approved of the way Duterte runs the country.

The survey also showed that 85 of those polled continue to trust the 74-year-old leader. It is the poorest Filipinos who trust Duterte the most.

"Most Filipino adults are appreciative of the performance of Duterte," the Pulse Asia said, adding that approval is the predominant opinion of the people.

Moreover, the survey said Duterte registered majority trust ratings across geographic areas and socio-economic groupings.

Indeed, Duterte's performance and trust ratings remained "essentially unchanged" between March and June 2019.

"The movements in the performance and trust ratings of Duterte during the period March to June 2019 are marginal in nature, both at the national level and in the different geographic and socio-economic classes," the survey said.

A separate survey of independent pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on July 8 said Duterte got a record-high performance rating with 80 percent of adult Filipinos polled giving him the thumbs up.

Duterte assumed the presidency in June 2016. He vowed to stamp out corruption and improve law and order in the Philippines by waging war against criminals and terrorists. His single, six-year term ends in 2022.

Duterte will deliver his fourth state of the nation address (SONA) on Monday to report on his administration's achievements and his plans for the country in the next three years.

SONA is an annual address by Philippine president to a joint session of the congress of the Philippines.
