KIEV, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Poll results showed that 53 percent of Ukrainians would vote in support of joining NATO, reported Ukrinform news agency on Thursday.

According to the polls conducted by Rating sociological group, a Ukrainian non-governmental polling organization, if a referendum on Ukraine joining NATO took place today, 53 percent of the respondents would be in favor of joining, 31 percent against, and 2 percent would not vote. 14 percent of respondents found it difficult to decide.

A total of 2,000 respondents aged over 18 years were polled between May 29 and June 3. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 2.2 percent.

During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on June 4, president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that joining NATO is a foreign policy priority for Ukraine.

In an interview after the meeting, Zelensky said that Ukraine will definitely join NATO but only after a referendum which will be held when the Ukrainians are ready for it.
