Kampong Chhnang (FN), June 28 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced on Thursday that the government’s policy to find overseas employments for Cambodian people improve their living standards, addressing to approximately 21,500 garment workers from 14 factories in Kompong Chhnang’s Sameakki Mean Chey district, in central Cambodia.

The premier highlighted that the government is seeking high-income employment opportunities in other countries, the Middle East. The government is also negotiating with South Korea to receive more Cambodian workers.

“We observed that families with children working as factory workers in the kingdom and other jobs abroad improve family and housing situations; they have two sources of incomes combined - one from parents' farmings and another one from children's factories," stated the premier.

Responding to critics that many Cambodians have migrated for employment, the premier said that it is not a problem since many countries sent their citizens to work abroad as well.

According to the premier, more than 10 million Filipinos are currently working abroad.

As of early 2018, approximately 1,050,000 million Cambodians are working abroad, of which over 1 million are in Thailand, the rest in South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Prime Minister Hun Sen reminded that peace and employments workers enjoy derived from the struggling of himself and Cambodian People’s Party (CPP)’s supporters to end wars through win-win policy.

He also called on people to participate in maintaining peace by voting for CPP.
