Phnom Penh (FN), May 30 - The 190km Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville highway will begin to construct by the end of 2018, Senior Minister of Public Work and Transport Sun Chanthol told Fresh News on Wednesday.

“The budget does not matter. What is important is land negotiations and compensations for the people,” said the Minister.

He added that the Chinese invested $2 billion to build this highway, as they trust Prime Minister Hun Sen’s leadership in maintaining peace and stability, particularly, Cambodia's economy will continue to grow.

Senior Minister hoped that this very first highway in Cambodia will ease the traveling from Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville, reducing traffic accidents and jams, and facilitating the transportation of goods that will boost Cambodia's economy.
