Phnom Penh (FN), March 19 - Heng Sour, spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, on Monday strongly condemned Mu Sochua, a former lawmaker from Cambodia National Rescue Party and other politicians for calling on foreign buyers to stop purchasing Cambodia’s goods.

"Such appeals can be considers as treason, as the appealers know that when foreigners stop buying goods from Cambodia at their call, workers and their families will lose their source of income and become poor," Heng Sour said adding that “When workers and their families become poor, politicians will be able to initiate social anger and violence that can lead to color revolution, the ultimate goal of the traitors".

He continued that if no politicians polluted the news abroad, workers and their families will have better living conditions and receive better interests.

"The opposition's actions are completely contrary to the wills of the Royal Government, who works to attract foreign investors and foreign aid to build infrastructure such as electricity and roads that will create more jobs for our workers," he said.

The spokesperson response came after Mu Sochua appealed to the Australian government to suspend purchases from Cambodia in an interview with Chun Chanbuth, Radio Free Asia’s Managing Director, at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit.
