Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 26 – The Supreme Court sentenced Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) Senator Thak Lany to an 18 months imprisonment, according to the court’s verdict on Monday.

Senator Thak Lany placed the blame on Prime Minister Hun Sen for the July 10 2016 murder of political analyst Kem Ley. She was charged with a public defamation and incitement jeopardizing social security committed during a constituency visit in Ratanakkiri province on July 29, 2016.

Ky Tech, a lawyer for Prime Minister Hun Sen, filed a lawsuit against Thak Lany to claim compensation of 100 Riels.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court and the Appeals Court sentenced Thak Lany to a year imprisonment and a fine of USD 2,000, including compensation of 100 Riels for PM Hun Sen.

Sources indicated that Thak Lany is currently not in Cambodia.
