Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 14 – The Supreme Court will hear the defamation case of Thak Lany, a former senator from the Cambodia National Rescue Party, according to the court’s order released on Feb. 6, 2018.

Lany accused the Prime Minister Hun Sen of murdering Kem Ley. She was charged with a public defamation and incitement jeopardizing social security committed on July 29, 2016.

Ky Tech, a lawyer for PM Hun Sen, filed a lawsuit against Lany to claim compensation of 100 Riels.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court and the Appeals Court sentenced Thak Lany to a year imprisonment and a fine of USD 2,000, including compensation of 100 Riels for PM Hun Sen.

Sources indicated that Thak Lany is currently not in Cambodia.
