Phnom Penh (FN), Jan 29 – Japanese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kazuyuki Nakene requested Cambodian authorities to work hard to ensure the safety of Japanese people visiting and investing in Cambodia.

His request was made during his meeting with Sar Kheng, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Japan-Cambodia friendship and establishment of the Japanese consulates in Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey and Kampong Thom.

The Vice-Minister added that as the number of Japanese investors and tourists increased in Cambodia, he asked Sar Kheng to enhance security for his people, especially to facilitate the Japanese people when they lost documents or passports.

Interior Minister Sar Kheng said that Japan is Cambodia's best friend, and Cambodia deeply appreciates the Japanese government and the people who have helped Cambodia.

Ministry of Interior will ensure safety for the Japanese people and Japanese investors in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, Kazuyuki Nakene has also pledged to continue helping Cambodia and to push relations between the people and the two countries.

More than 250 Japanese companies are investing in Cambodia and more than 2 million Japanese citizens visited Cambodia in 2017, particularly in Siem Reap.
