Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 25 - The French Development Agency (AFD) on Wednesday has provided 41 million Euros ($50 million) of grant and loans to help expand and improve water supply and sanitation services in Cambodia, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on Thursday.

The signing ceremony was held between Vongsey Vissoth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Philippe Bauduin, AFD's Executive Vice President.

France and Cambodia signed two agreements: (1) 40 million Euros ($49 million) for concessional loan agreement on urban water supply and sanitation; (2) 1 million Euros ($1.24 M) grant agreement for study project and capacity building.

The two cooperation agreements contribute to the development of rural infrastructure by providing services as well as water supply to rural areas and capacity building of project implementation officers and project feasibility studies in the development cooperation framework with AFD.

On that occasion, Philippe Bauduin also expressed his commitment to continue supporting Cambodia's development.

He also said that AFD plans to increase the amount of financing to Cambodia's development in line with the context of Cambodia's current development, and in this way he will work to ensure Cambodia receive AFD financing as much as possible.
