Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 22 - Prime Minister Hun Sen asked Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh to boost trade volume between Cambodia and Vietnam to $5 billion in 2018.

The request was made when Vu Quang Minh paid a courtesy visit on Monday morning.

Eang Sophalleth, personal secretary to the Prime Minister, told reporters that Vu Quang Minh expressed his gratitude to the success of the three-day General Assembly of the Central Committee, hosted by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).

Vu Quang Minh pledged that he will strengthen and better the relations between Cambodia and Vietnam, especially in trade sector.

In that occasion, PM Hun Sen noted that the current volume of trade between Cambodia and Vietnam has increased but has yet to achieve the target of $5 billion. The goal is unlikely, as in 2017, the trade volume reached to $3.8 Billion, an increased of only 25%.

In this regard, PM Hun Sen asked Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia to work hard to achieve the target of $5 billion by 2018.
