Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 20 – Kem Sokha, former president of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) currently detained in Tropang Phlong Correctional Center in Tbong Khmum province, stated that he will not join the Cambodian National Rescue Movement (CNRM), initiated by Sam Rainsy, according to Pheng Heng, lawyer of Kem Sokha after seeing him on Friday.

“Kem Sokha confirmed that he will not join any movement or initiate any new movement as well… he continues staying with the people who supported CNRP,” said the lawyer.

“Kem Sokha knew CNRM from his wife who often visits him at the center and that he confirmed not to join the movement,” he added.

CMRM was initiated by Sam Rainsy, Eng Chhay Eang, and Mu Sochua on January 12, 2018.

Kem Sokha’s supporters and some analysts said that the creation of the movement aim to abduct power from Kem Sokha and the movement could be a new burden to Kem Sokha.
