Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 10 - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam on Wednesday noon praised Cambodia for hosting the 2nd Mekong-Lancang Summit and he believes that it will further enhance the prestige of Cambodia, both in the region and in the world.

The praised was made during his meeting with Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m before the Summit kicks off.

In the meeting, the Vietnamese Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for the bilateral trade volume between the two countries in 2017 which was $3.8 billion, an increase of 25% compared to 2016, while Cambodia exported more than $1 billion worth of goods to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Hun Sen welcomed the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and said that his participation will strengthen the two countries' cooperation, especially to make this conference a success.

Cambodia is proud to host the 2nd Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Meeting which will start on January 10, 2018, Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

The premier will meet with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam at 12:00 p.m, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand at 14:00, and Vice President Myint Swe of Myanmar 14:40 at the Peace Palace before the 2nd Mekong-Lancang Summit kicks off at 16:00.

The 2nd Mekong-Lancang summit will take place in Peace Palace, Phnom Penh under the theme “Our River of Peace and Sustainable Development”.
