PHNOM PENH (FN), Feb. 17 — Cambodian government claimed the country had made a total income of over $1billion generated by Cambodian workers overseas for last year, according to the Ministry Labor and Vocational Training.

Speaking to the media at the Ministry’s annual conference to wrap up achievements made over the past year of 2015, Minister Ith Sam Heng said “According to our fair and optimistic estimate, the total income out of the savings that our workers overseas have made and sent back to their families at home is roughly over $1 billion.”

Cambodia has currently dispatched workers to mainly four countries that include Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea. The minister said that as of the present, Cambodia has had between 65,000 and 70,000 workers overseas.
