Phnom Penh (FN), Oct 5 - Earlier today, the Ministry of Information announced that they denied granting journalist cards to employees of The Cambodia Daily and Radio Free Asia, as their agencies dissolved subjectively.

“Director General of the Information and Visualization Department of the Ministry of Information would like to inform all ladies and gentlemen of international and domestic news agencies that the Department will deny granting journalist cards to all employees who work for The Cambodia Daily and Radio Free Asia," according to Ministry's announcement released on Thursday.

The Cambodia Daily owes approximately six million USD of tax to the government of Cambodia. Due to its financial inability, the agency announced its dissolution on September 4, 2017, after over 24 years of operation in Cambodia.

On the other hand, Radio Free Asia announced its dissolution quietly on September 10, 2017, while arranging its employees to different jobs and sending news directly to Washington D.C, United States.
