Phnom Penh (FN), October 2- Cambodia-Japan will sign Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on the Extension of the grant aid up to 3,942 million yuan (about $35 million) for the implementation of the project for Urgent Replacement of Bridges in Flood-prone Area, according to MoFA's press release on Monday.

The signing ceremony will be held on Tuesday, where Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and Hidehisa Horinouchi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, will preside over at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further added that five bridges on National Highway 73 in Kratie and two bridges on National Highway 11 in Prey Veng will be constructed to replace the existing bridges in order to expand transportation capacity.

Since April 2017, Cambodia has received Japan's official development assistance about $249 million, including a grant of, approximately $40 million for the development of human resources, flood protection and drainage improvement in the capital, and a loan that is worth approximately $209 million for the development of a new terminal development in Sihanoukville.
