MANILA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- An officer was found dead after a reported shooting incident in the Presidential Palace Park on Tuesday morning, a statement from the Philippine Presidential Security Group confirmed.

Major Harim Gonzaga, a 37-year-old officer and a father of two, was found lifeless due to a gunshot wound in his chest area while he was inside his quarters in the Presidential Palace Park at around 08:50 a.m. loal time, said the statement.

The statement declined to give more details of the death, adding the security group is waiting for the official investigation.

At a press briefing at around noon on Tuesday, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said the incident is still under investigation.
