Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 8 – Prime Minister Hun Sen on Feb. 08, showed appreciation of the documentary film produced by Hollywood star Angelina Jolie on life-history during the Khmer Rouge regime, saying that it helps deepen public understanding of life during the tragedy under Pol Pot Genocidal Regime that killed millions of lives.

On his Facebook page, the premier wrote that the production of the documentary film on life during Pol Pot Genocidal Regime (1975-1979) which is on-going under the direction of Angelina Jolie is important since it will contribute to bolstering more public knowledge and understanding about life struggle during the killing field.

“It is because of the civil war, execution and starvation under the leadership of Pol Pot that millions of lives perished over a period of three years, eight months, and 20 days,” the premier wrote in his Facebook.

He continued that some young people, particularly those who were born after the tragedy, would not believe that such a tragedy had happened. Anyway, what has happened at that time would not be repeated in Cambodia as well as in any other countries, he added.

“Our country is moving forward under the shade of peace and the right leadership providing hope to all the Cambodians. Together we will maintain peace so that the country will continue to further develop endlessly. It is peace that enables foreigners to come to either visit the country or to produce movie as in the case of this famous American Hollywood Star,” the premier concluded.
