Phnom Penh (FN), September 2 – More than 10,000 drug victims among 21,126 drug abusers in Cambodia are under treatment, according to Meas Vyrith, secretary general of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD).

The statement was made on Friday at a meeting of the second phase of the nationwide anti-drug campaign at the Ministry of Health.

"The number of drug addicts has increased, however, our government and Rehabilitation Committee will work harder to reduce and encourage the remaining 9,000 drug addicts to receive treatment," he said.

Health Minister Mam Bunheng urged all relevant ministries and institutions to continue to effectively fight against the use of illicit drug and to treat drug addicts.
