Phnom Penh (FN), August 25 – Phnom Penh Municipal Court decided to sentence Sourn Serey Ratha, the president of the Khmer Power Party, to 5-year imprisonment and fine $2,500 for insulting country’s leaders, particularly military institution.

Sourn Serey Ratha was temporarily detained on August 14 for public incitement and demotivating military spirit under the article 472 and article 494 of criminal code.

“The result of the war with Laos is the same as the war with Thailand! Only Khmer low-ranking soldiers died, whereas, the boss behind the back collect the merit and stay in comfort zone,” Ratha wrote on FB.

Senior officials at the PPMC and National Police added that the arrest was carried out as Ratha was traveling from Kampong Cham province to Phnom Penh.
