Phnom Penh (FN), August 15 - Hyundai Agro Cambodia Co., Ltd is expanding the cultivation of Cambodian mangos in an effort to export 10,000 tons of the delicious fruit to Korea and Japan.

The plan was made public by Sok Chenda Sophea, Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), during a tour of the Korean company's production plant on Monday, in which representatives of relevant ministries and other institutions participated.

“Hyundai Agro Cambodia Co., Ltd. has invested an estimated 300 hectares to grow mangos, which can currently produce roughly 1,000 tons per year.

The company expects to plant more groves in order to meet the current demands of Korea and Japan for a total of 10,000 tons per year”, according to a press release of CDC.

Sok Chenda Sophea also met with the workers at the Hyundai Agro (Cambodia) Co., Ltd and gave away materials to students at a neighboring primary school.
