Phnom Penh (FN), August 15 - A man who posed as Hun Manet in order to recruit soldiers has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court (PPMC).

The sentence was handed down on Tuesday morning.

"PPMC issued a verdict regarding the illegal recruitments, falsification of public documents, illegal possession of a weapon, and fraud resulting in a five-year imprisonment under Articles 377, 378, 639, 490 and 612 of the Criminal Code”, stated a court official.

Investigating Judge Theam Chanpiseth issued a warrant to detain the suspect in Prey Sar prison on December 7, 2016.

The detention came after prosecutor Ngin Pich accused the suspect of 4 offenses, including fraud, false documents, illegal weapon possessed, and impersonation of a public authority.

The suspect, Nguon Seng Satya, called Touch Seng, 42, is Cambodian national with previous military experience was living in Phnom Penh at the time of his arrest last December.
