Phnom Penh (FN), July 26 - Heng Ratana, director-general of the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC), has revealed that CMAC has discovered and destroyed nearly 3 million types of explosives during the first half of 2017.

He further explained the four categories of explosive remnants of war (ERW) including landmines (AP and AT mines), cluster munitions, all kinds of UXO (conventional bombs, shells and grenades, and chemical devices.

“The unexploded ordnance are found buried underground, underwater, reserved, and abandoned", said Heng Ratana.

From January to June of this year, CMAC discovered and destroyed 2,665,772 explosives. This result contributes significantly to ensuring the safety of Cambodians”, stated Heng Ratana.
